Select side counters soar

BSE Sensex was up 1,157.80 points or 6.72% to 18,365.12. Stocks rose in Asia today, 25 January 2008, buoyed up by several factors including strong corporate sentiment in Germany and a return of some confidence in the US economy after solid employment data and a congressional fiscal package. The Bush administration's fiscal package includes $150 billion of tax rebates and business incentives meant to prevent a slowdown in the country's economy.

Hindustan Oil Exploration Company surged 27.45% to Rs 114. It was the top gainer on BSE. Bajaj Hindustan jumped 25.97% to Rs 210.25. It was the second biggest gainer on BSE. Amrutanjan Healthcare hit 20% upper circuit at Rs 468. It was the third biggest gainer. Cera Sanitaryware rose 19.27% to Rs 177.95. It was the fourth biggest gainer.
