Audi Q5 will now come with Made in India tag

The Indian economy is driving at a steady speed, but German premium car maker, Audi is driving much faster than that. The company now plans to start local assembly of its currently imported compact sports utility vehicle-Q5 from next year.

Benoit Tiers, Managing Director of Audi India, says, “We have already sold more cars in 2009 than the whole of 2008. In the full of last year, we sold 1,050 cars, a figure that we have already surpassed. We have sold 1,168 cars from the beginning of this year till August-end. The projection for Vienna be roughly around 1,700 cars, which will also depend on the availability of Q5, which I just mentioned has been a big success. We are a little bit short on projection of that car.”
